*Stats* Hank Aaron, one of the greatest baseball players of all time, hit a total of 755 home runs. A lesser known fact is how many times he struck out. Astoundingly he struck out 1,383 times! That means that for every time he hit a home run he struck out 1.83 times. This is more than just a curiosity. There is a clear lesson for success in any walk of life. Imagine if he had stopped to consider and analyze how many more times he struck out versus how many times he hit a home run.

Chances are the more he had considered that the more it would have gone through his mind while at bat. If he had dwelled on this for too long, Aaron would probably have become so despondent he would have struck out even more. Had he fully embraced this thought pattern, it may have even ruined his career. Regardless of your career, you are going to have home runs and strikeouts. Accept this reality and it will help you persist even when things go poorly.

The only way to avoid striking out sometimes is to avoid going to bat. Of course, this will also prevent you from hitting home runs. Remember, whatever you focus on grows larger. Recognize that you won?t win 100% of the time, but stay focused on your goals and your successes. That?s the way to win in the long run. After all, the home runs are what people talk about! -- Success and Nothing Less!
